The Work of Ryan Hannigan
The Temple Gallery has an unique asset as it is run by the artist Ryan Hannigan. The artist has his studio on the premises and displays a permanent collection of his work. In an age of conceptual modern art were controversy is appraised Ryan Hannigan's art values history and the art of the Old Masters. In this current exhibition he references Titian, Rubens, Michelangelo and Da Vinci and also Flaxman, Canova and the Hellenists. Paying homage to those who appreciate the classical idiom. Scotland has its own recent tradition of Neo-classicists in the persons of Sandy Stoddart and Ian Hamilton Finlay and Hannigan makes these artists known through his work also.
